Hi I am just starting up my tank and i was wondering if I will be needing a protein skimmer for my 30 gallon tank?

Currently i have no fish in it, but i am planning on getting max. 5 fish

Also what would be an affordable one (and how much?), and quiet..

    thank you

LOST? Nice. (for those not in the know, the handle is a LOST character).

Anyway, is this reef, fish only, freshwater, etc.? What are the fish you are planning on?

Unless they are small fish with low low bio loads (like gobies) 5 fish is probably going to be too much. I only keep 4 in my 55 gallon (it could handle a 5th if its bioload is low).

Anyway, yes, plan on getting a skimmer. You can add it now, but it would be fine to wait until post cycle.

That is what I have used on my 30g and using on my 65g now. I think I paid $100 for it. Can probably find it cheaper on ebay. Good skimmer for the price.

I agree with the Coralife 65 being a good option. An Aqua C Remora would also be a good one for you to look at:
