Updated Pics of 30 Gallon Oceanic Cube

I have been doing a lot of upgrading to this tank in the last few weeks -
-First was going to over 100X turnover on flow - result: all corals healthier, sand=SPOTLESS, less glass cleaning, more surface agitation, increased fish activity - especially at feeding time.
-Adding DWB-110 Reef Octo Skimmer rated for over 100 gallons (mind you this is a system will about 30 gallons of total water volume - result: more polyp extension of LPS, generally happier fish, even LESS glass cleaning (I can clean once a week and be fine now - whereas before it was once ever other day)
-Adding a 3rd ALL Royal Blue Boost LED fixture above the middle, mounted higher than the other two existing 3RB/2W BOOSTLEDS fixtures - result: major WOW factor increased on the "flourescant-type" corals, also the ability to have an actual "actinic" cycle to the lighting to ease the fish and corals into and out of the full "daylight".

I have finally added two SPS corals and so far, so good.

I got a stylophora that has been growing and growing in my LFS for a long time and he cut me a major price break on the stylo and the lime-green monti cap.

The stylo was the unfortunate (but in hind sight fortunate?) victim of my clumsy hands and i fractured several pieces off of it. Solution: have the ever-so-helpful GF mix up some TLF reef epoxy and try my hand at SPS fragging - let me tell you - at least with the stylo - it was nearly effortless and foolproof. I was just careful to not insert the base of the stem of the frag too deep to allow tissue to be burned by the epoxy and then set on a small piece of LR rubble from the sand bed. I fragged about 4 pieces and they are all fully re-extended (along with the "mother" colony which I secured using the same methods)

Now looking to move on to some anacropora, and possibly acros/millis!!!

I should also add that the first two pictures are the newer arrangement and the third picture is on the day that I got the 3rd All Blue BOOSTLED and was just messing around.

Can you guess which bulb is which by the third picture!?!?! :p:p:p

Tank is looking very nice. It has really come a long way fast. I'm surprised how well the LPS corals are doing with the flow. If I try to go over 35x or so, my lps corals all close up. Are the Koralis on a wavemaker? Anyway, everything looks super healthy. It definitely seems to work well for you!

Really like the led's too, bet they have a nice shimmer without the heat and power consumption of a halide.

    Thanks everyone!!!

It's been about 2 months that the Torch coral has been under the LEDs and they only every seem to extend more and more .. . .

I imagine if I put a spawn, wall hammer, or other euphy. sp then they would not be happy - it seems the Torch corals LOVE the heavy flow.

The 4 Koralia Nano 425s are currently NOT on a wavemaker. I have them all sort of "countering" each other's flow so that there seems to be relatively random flow overall.

I must say that the BoostLEDs have been AWESOME so far. So easy to setup, cheap, easy on electric bill, cool shimmer, amazing polyp extension and now with the all Royal Blue light - the POP is really there - even with corals that would normally look plain!!!

I'm surprised the torch is able to take such flow being higher up where most the SPS are. Didn't think they liked too much?

I think it has to do specifically with the torch corals - not all Euphyllia species like the heavy flow. The spawns in the 430 tank at my office are unhappy with anything but a gentle, easy undertow. Same goes for the purple spawn I have in my 120 - it likes indirect "undertow" flow.

These torches just love to be blown around it seems!!! I am sure all the light and filtration along with good water params does not hurt! :p
