been trying to get this beast together, ordered another pacific coast 1/2 hp chiller ( both main pumps will have one on each line ).

making the suspended tracking system for the LB dual reflectors

not going to use the mazzei injectors or beckett, waiting for a pump to hit the market soon for the skimmer

picked up two rubbermaid containers 100 gallon sump and a 50 gallon fuge with a hole in wall to run the plumbing into the basement.

In the words of Alex Trebec: "I'll accept that answer."

In the words of someone less patient: "For now."

Wow, man. You're really going full bore. When one man's protein skimmer pump is another man's return pump; you da man. (and I only really have the 2-md-sc. You have the 2-mdqxsc, and THREE of them; AND THEY'RE ON YOUR PROTEIN SKIMMER!!)

    2, one-half HP chillers? Whoa.

Kinda makes you think. . . .ever see a car go by and think, "Wow, that guy's wheels cost more than my car?" Well, you're scenario is kinda that way.

You wearin' alligator boots and hoppin' off Lear Jets too?

did you mean, im hoppin' off a leer jet with a parachute and only wearing my alligator boots.

the tank is 300 gallons and the total system volume is going to be over 450 gallons. this set up took alot of planning. most of it fabricated by me. for instance:

the dual lumen bright reflectors. the only dual halide reflectors out there have the bulbs to far apart and are unable to produce both par and k-value together. the ones i fabricated have the bulbs next to each other along with a fan to have the heat exit threw the top without losing reflectivity.

not going to use the mazzei injectors or beckett, waiting for a pump to hit the market soon for the skimmer

the tank alone is a work of art, there are no others like it. ill sell it to ya for a price.

having two main pumps with two chillers is a safety net since this tank will house mainly acro's.

This is probably one of the most impressive builds I've seen.

I'm guessing you've got a hexagonal shouldered slip bushing inside the cap's head? If so, how'd you make watertite the slim portion that passes thru the cap?

ive had many inquiries regarding the build on this tank, so to keep you posted this is whats going on.

there is no guide to skimmer size based off of bioload per scfh that the industry uses when selling skimmers.

waiting for a particular pump to hit the market within the next couple months, until then the tank is on standby. pump will produce 100+ scfh @ 50-60w with a 2:1 water/air ratio.

the diy skimmer will be counter current, recirc, mesh mod venturi with 2 pumps. for a total of 200+ scfh or 5700 lph or air on a reef system having a total of 450 gallons.
