unfortunately there was no way around this, i didnt want holes in the bottom of the tank and to get the amount of flow needed without the use of powerheads/tunze for sps there needed to be something up front. but there will be a canopy of some sort to hide the lines going up front.

Hey, Happy Memorial Day first off.
    Thank you secondly and
third, what are your thoughts on why you ran holes instead of power heads?
I was playing with the idea and I was going to swiss cheese my 150 or the 180 up... but then I saw the price of an external pump... wow! I paid $50-60 for my submersible and I am adding up 3 power heads. I was thiking of minimal flow through the filter and fuge and lots of internal flow, like you did "closed loop"... but if I ran one big pump and it went out of the power went out it wouldn't be like now where I couldn't have my PHs on a battery back-up. To run one big pump would take alot of juice from a battery back-up. Just wanted your thoughts. Are they more efficient? I see alot of people doing 1 or 2 closed loops with 2-6 holes but I guess you could have more control over the on-off-on or pulsation?
Thank you for your reply in advance.

how do you like the closed loop, my 350 is pre drilled with 4 holes to the front half of my tank for it with a suction in the rear middle. just dont really know if i should use it or leave it pluged like the guy had it.

I would much rather go with external pump because:
    1. No heat added to water
    2. There would be less power used with one pump then having equal gph in PH's
    3. Adding voltage to the water and if it shorts then all your livestock goes with it.
    4. All the cords hanging in the tank looks cluttered and un-engineered.

One large pump that controls all the flow of the tank. You can drill the tank in whatever location you want and then ajust the flow from there. It looks a lot cleaner IMO.
