i have a 36 gal bowfront wanting to upgrade to t5 lighting...length across of tank is 30 inches...

here is my concern was looking at current sundial t5HO...30 inch...

its 9.5 inch wide..with my emperor 400 on tank..that will put the front part of light right at front of tank where the curve starts...so dont know how the mounting will work...

can i cut a piece of plexi glass cut to fit tank top...and just lay the t5 light on it..the light has things on light for air flow???

any other suggestions as far as lighting or how to address this issue?

    thanks
    Wade

Honestly a MH pendant will be a better alternative... I would say 175w with supplemental actinic lamps, it will be easy and effective for an odd shaped tank.
If you really want to go T5 I would skip the 30" Sundail in favor of a 24" Tek or TX5, and opt for the hanging kit. Lamps on a 30" T5 are only 24" anyway so aside from resting the fixture on the tank having a 30" fixture has no added benefit.
Also having a 24" fixture will allow it to creep up on the bow as well without hanging over the edge..

    Happy reefing!
