36 Gallon Bowfront should I go Sump or in tank skimmer?

I just got a 36 Gallon Bowfront, ordered 2 Koralias, and have a bunch of live rock curing in a tub. I've been running my first SW tank -a 20 Gallon Long Sumpless Mixed Reef for about 6 months (15% water changes) with some success.
I don't have any plans for filtration on this new 36 Gallon but want something. Going to do mixed reef that's heavy on the coral and light on the fish (Black clown, chromis, CUC, and a shrimp). I want to run a protein skimmer this time. Is it wiser to run something inside the main tank like the Hydor Slim Skim ($115) or since I have room in the back fit in a 10 gallon sump ( Tank $10 -Petco Sale, Overflow box $40, power head $20, in sump skimmer $?) Is there a skimmer that will work in about 6 inches of water and would that work better than the Hydor? My overhead is tight so the HOB skimmers' probably won't fit.
My other options are: Someone gave me a Phosban Reactor with some Phosban. I could easily run some GAC and Phosban. Not sure how I would trap any detrius if I took that route, maybe use foam insert on the intake of the powerhead to the reactor.

I have a 28 gallon bowfront, and I really wish I went with a sump. It's the biggest reason I've been wanting to upgrade. I don't like all the pumps and stuff inside the main tank, and it's a pain to work on stuff that's hanging behind the tank (especially the way I have mine in the corner).

I know my reactor does trap some detrius inside it, and I have to clean it more often than I should.

If it were me, I'd go with the sump, drill the tank, and put as much of the filtration in the sump as you could (including using the phosban reactor, I've seen a dramatic change in my tank since I starting using GFO and carbon in it).

Do you just have one Reactor running both GAC and GFO? Some people say that's okay and some people say they need different flows.

Def drill and do the sump, a 20tall would be better and give you more options than a 10g. If you do it right, you'll have more than 6"s of water in there. You'll love having all that crap out of your tank, plus it will add much needed stability in your tank since you're concentrating on corals. There are a lot of skimmers out there, which I don't know much about for your size tank. I'd start a thread under that section to help with that.

But Zechenia is dead on with the advice, IMO

And yes you are right about the confusion with running GAC GFO. So check out this new product, seems to solve that problem, this is a longer thread, but def worth the read for ya;)
