It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It's a bristle worm, first of many. Keep your feedings in check and the population stays in check. Harmless and good part of the cuc, just do not touch it.

Ya I have quite the colony going. They sort of just fall off on their own accord and roll around the tank until they find a new home, or I glue them to something. I bought them as a blue mushroom and when I got them under the LEDs they turned a green purple color.

I used that website you posted and narrowed it down lol. I have unfortunately learned the hard way a while back to never pick up a rock without knowing what your touching. On a plus side I also learned how to remove bristle worm bristles quite well lol.

Well my cycling tank has got me a little perplexed. The ammonia has dropped to zero, the nitrate is at 10 and the nitrite is at .01. The confusing part is that the brown diatoms are disappearing, Im not sure if this was just a mini cycle and the big one hasn't happened yet. I have been light ghost feeding so maybe there isn't enough food in the system for the bacteria? At any rate I wont be adding any CUC for another 10 days or so (which would put me at around day 18 of the cycle).

Diatoms consume silicates.Once they are gone so are the diatoms. This occurs naturally and does not indicate when your tank is cycled. If you are seeing nitrate you have cycled (to some degree).

So I am starting to see some green hair algae starting to form on the rocks and such, I wasn't planning on putting in a CUC this soon in the cycle. Should I let the algae build for a bit before I put them in so they dont starve or should I get a couple of snails in there now to keep it at bay? Also with my candy hogfish he picks at pods and other things on the rocks, should I think about supplementing pods with a product? Has anyone had any experience with these kind of product?

The hogfish will eat frozen brine shrimp occasionally, hes about 1.25" and he seems to prefer the chopped up pieces of brine shrimp that hit the rocks or off the bottom of the aquarium. I just want to give my fish the best enviroment from day one.
