is that BP going to cause problems on long run? if that case, I am planning to remove them and grow more mangroves/chaeto which is more natural way or just stick microbacter.

That stinks vinny :( Does anyone running pellets have a controlled. I think you can get an ORP for any controller though they might be a little pricey. Shin, this means you buddy!

Well I did something I normally DON'T do. Panicked. I may have jumped the gun a little and pulled my pellets for no reason. I just tested my water and my Alk. is at 9.5 (perfect for me) My Calcium is at 250(yikes). My Mag is at 1350(O.K.).Boy do I feel dumb. Am seriously considering putting the BP's back even though I already rinsed them. Feeling like a noob is something new for me but I guess I should know by now this hobby can do that to you from time to time.::)::)

Hmmm....this thread has me thinking on wether or not to re-introduce pellets in my tank.

I can say that since removing them I haven't had any SPS STN. Just upgraded my skimmer this weekend. I wonder if the increase in oxygen from the larger skimmer would offset my drawbacks from pellet usage before. Assuming ORP was the issue....hmmm

Well I restarted my reactor because it has really helped with my bubble algae and Cyano. I went from cleaning the glass every two days to cleaning the skimmer every two days.;D I am sticking with them if for nothing else; research. I am basically using my tank as a guinea pig just so you other noobs can learn something.;D J/K

I notice quite a few people posting bubble algae as being one of the reasons for running BP. Bubble algae can still thrive in the presence of low nutrients. Running BP will not rid you of them. The most efficient means of eradication is persistent and careful manual removal. Just thought I'd mention that.

    What what??
Yeah, I have been running BP since Aug 2011, still have no issue. My tank is very light stocked, but having some cyano patches.

I was getting overrun when I started BP's and it has since almost completely disappeared.I haven't tried manual removal but am going to try to get rid of the last few patches.I understand that this isn't a cure all but it sure has helped to get it under control in my tank.;)
