    I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. I'm setting up my 20gallon long sump for my 90 and I wanted to see what peoples opinions are on the skimmers that I'll list (or opinions on ones that I haven't listed as well). This is so hard to make a decision and I want to order one soon. Unfortunately I don't want to spend $500+ or I'd get a bubble king, deltec, or ATB. But I was gonna spend around $300 give or take a little so here are the ones I'm thinking about. ASM G-1, Reef Octopus Extreme 200, Precision Marine Redline 100, Vertex IN-180. I have been leaning towards the Reef Octopus Extreme 200 or the Vertex IN-180. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated as you can see I am having troubles narrowing down the choice:confused:

    You can't go wrong with either of the choices you are leaning toward. They will both offer great performance and price. I would probably lean toward the Vertex only because it has such a nice transition and neck. They are both the ones I would have mentioned to you.

    I love my Aqua C EV240 skimmer but I gotta admit, seeing some of the reviews Matt has been posting recently on the cone style skimmers has made me a bit envious

    Both of those are nice skimmers. If you want to "give" a little to the $300, you can get the Octopus XP 2000 from Aquacave for $380 shipped with a small discount if you're a member of another popular reef forum.

    yea i was leaning more towards the Vertex one and I had looked at the Reef Octopus 2000 as well. Here are the specs for the Vertex IN-180 from Aquacave bje if you check back in on this thread.

    * Model: IN-180
    * Foot Print: 13.5" x 11"
    * Height: 24"
    * Diameter: 8"
    * Air Draw: 720lph @ 32w
    * Aquarium Size: 100-180 Gallons

    Anyone else want to chime in? I know skimmers are a redundant subject on here but I know about everyone on here has some sort of opinion on a skimmer they want, have, or have had in the past

    i also had limited sump space, i also have a 90 with a 20 gall sump so i went with the marineland in sump skimmer. small footprint skims awesome. works best with an ato system because it is a lil sensitive to water level changes. i know it wasnt on your list but i am happy with it.

    I run the ASM g-2 on my 65 gallon. I think if you get the g-1 you will regret not getting the g-1x or the g-2. I have not used any other skimmer so I cannot say which is better, but I am very happy with mine and it pulls out some NASTY stuff.

    Yea i heard quite a few good things about the g2 and I'll have to do some research on the marineland in-sump skimmer
