3reef pronounciation discrepency

Hello,
I was just wondering, is it breef or 3reef? I hope to get some good answers¡
BTW this is being sent from my psp, hope that is a first...?

 

I read it 3-reef. Never thought about it the other way.

The Kingfish started the site based on 3 steps to setting up a reef aquarium
hence 3 reef

because a site called "3 steps to setting up a reef aquarium" would not have been as punchy as what we have now

'3reef' started in 1996 as 'Three Steps to a Reef Aquarium' and was created by me - Matt Rogers.


If you can believe it, at one time the URL was threestepstoareefaquarium.com. What was I thinking! Later I decided it was much easier if it was just 3reef.com. Don't you think?


The site began as an excercise to learn HTML and to help fellow hobbyists by sharing what I had learned while living in Manhattan a year or two earlier.


While I lived there, I worked at a fish store called 'Age of the Aquariums' between 59th and 60th on 2nd avenue. The store was ahead of it's time stocking a lot of live rock and corals before the reef thing really took off. It suffered from a poor location though - not a lot of foot traffic. Which is hard to do in Manhattan! What kept it alive for a while was maintenance accounts and building custom aquariums. I learned a lot that year and tried to get it all down on this site.


'Three steps' was really a misnomer as obviously there are a lot more steps than that, but I thought it sounded nice at the time and was less intimidating to the new hobbyist."

3reef was a given right? I think this thread was to show off the suaveness of using a psp and looking for our attempt at humor. In which case Lets explore “Breef” pronounced “Brief” as in the amount of time it will take to get a solid answer to any aquarium question posted. Or…Breef, its what’s for dinner…nah, that’s been done <-- look Otty, I used another smile...Matt - I need more !!
