    Covey,

20ppm Nitrate is OK, nothing to worry about, just keep monitoring it and if you manage to keep it at that sort of level without interference everything will be fine.

Also don't concern yourself too much with the bristle worms, they are a normal part of the critters you will see. They will come and go and shouldn't be a concern.

As far as the Aiptasia is concerned, it could well be just tube worms like feather duster worms and not Aiptasia at all :)

When you go near them do they retract?

    John

I have got small tube worms on the rock too. I am happy about those. The creatures in question like I said are tiny like a quarter of a inch tall. They have a small cylindrical base with hair thin arms at the top. The can also move very slowly like inches in the course of a day which led me to believe they are Aiptasia. So what do you think? There is only about six of them right now.

    Covey,

If it is Aiptasia then I would try to eradicate them now rather than wait. I would have a look on the Internet for pictures of Aiptasia to make sure that is what you are seeing and then do a search here on 3reef for the best method of removal.

    John :)

I found a back issue of TFH and checked out the pics I think I jumped the gun with the Aiptasia. I think they are something else. Beside my LFS carries those obligate aiptasia eating nudibrachs. So they won't be hard to get them of them if they are. I did though positive identify the bristleworms. Those bristles are not of show. Kind of feels like fiberglass in your hand. Anyway I got the second half of my live rock I got about 34 pounds total now it looks good. I also made a muddy mess of the tank when I put when I add some Marc Weiss F.O.R.M. I think it will settle down. I add the brillo pad style macro algae to my fuge. I think I am going to buy some T-5 lighting from Captive Reefs. Pics Soon!

I had some aptasia in my tank, until I got some peppermint shrimp. They wiped out each and every one! Now if my arrow crab would figure out that bristle worms are good food, I'll be happy! I pulled one out last weekend that was almost 6" long!
