Thanks Steve, I need to get some more coral in there...soon.

Yeah, the mini closed-loop was my original plan....now I feel like kicking myself for being lazy because to do it I would have to drain the tank.

May seem like a silly suggestion
but in that sized set up, maybe the Korallia is not required

you could consider a maxi jet, located at the back of the rockwork
with some of that black PVC pipe and a wide angle outlet like you get on those loc line returns

that would be easy to mask/ hide IMO

I see the drain and the return but what are you using for a sump, return pump? Could you use a bigger return pump to increase the flow then do away with the PH?

Yeah, that's what I thought, that's why I ended up ditching the closed-loop idea. I was thinkint I would get enough flow from the return but it's not enough. I'll try hiding it with some rock, worse case I'll just remove everything and do the mini closed loop.

I'm also looking into the possibility of "chopping" the Koralia-nano a bit to make it smaller.

The return is just a 1/4 line T-off from the MAG9.5 return on my main tank. It's not pushing enough flow so I need additional flow. I don't want to increase the return because that would be taking away from my main tank tha already has a 5ft head.

You could run a seperate pump like a mag drive 1.5 that will flow 30 GPH at 5' of head come right over the top of the vase with a small line lock......Just a thought

Thanks, good idea. I was trying to avoid going over the top of the vase but this would be an easy fix and wouldn't look as bad as the powerhead. I have a few aquaclear 50 powerheads lying around, I'll have to test it out.

I also have an Aqueon10 HOB filter that has a tiny pump. I'm trying to figure out a way to mount the pump in the vase and use it as a powerhead.

I modified the pump on an Aqueon10 HOB filter I had for my QT tank...here what I came up with, it's smaller than the koralia nano but with magnification of the curved glass of the vase it looks bigger than it actually is. I used the magnetic mount of the koralia nano to stick it to the glass.

I'll take a few pics tomorrow when the lights are on. It's smaller than the koralia-nano, but I'm still not digging it. It's 2"x1.5"x1" but with the magnification of the curved glass, it still stand out....I might have to end up doing the closed-loop thing. I've seen people use maxijets on the outside of kalk reactors....anyone know if there is a kit that I can pickup to give a maxijet an inlet and outlet that wouldnt' leak?

I'm also open to suggestions on using other small pumps for the closed loop....
