Great thread, love the vase tank... I am thinking about getting one of these BOOSTleds on my via aqua nano to upgrade the lighting.... I like the simplicity of how you just put yours in a clip-on lamp,...... BUT how did you remove the clip-on's reflector???

thanks and i will be following this thread for updates.

Also, I like a little bluer tank than some so I will be getting 4 blue/1white but what do the different degrees of 40 and 60 mean???

Thanks...The reflector/shade of the clip-on desk lamp just screws off, same for the clip, the lamp is attached to the plastic clip by a nut. I removed the clip, drilled a hole at the top of the PVC case I built to hide the plumbing and attached the light.

Yeah, I'll be ordering a 4xblue, 1xWhite LED soon. After talking to John from BoostLED for a few minutes and explaining to him what I like as far as lighting color, he recommended the 4xb, 1xw combination....but I thought that was going to be too blue for my liking...he was right.

I got the 40 degree optics because the vase is only 10" in diameter so I didn't need too wide coverage and I didn't want light spilling out of the vase. Also with the 40 degree optics I think the par values are a bit more at the bottom of the tank (depending on height of the LED from the surface) However, if you have a wider tank, you would probably be better off with the 60 degree optics go get good coverage.

    thanks for the fast reply...

so you didn't clip the light to the aquarium??? hmmm... I wonder what i should clip it to. I have the via aqua 418, dimensions are about 18" tall X 15" wide X 10" front to back. I just have a hang on power filter for now, so no other plumbing... any other ideas how I could attach a clip on light using this led lamp?
