I picked up the vase at a local AJ Rite, I see them all the time at stores like HomeGoods and Marshals. The light bulb is a BoostLED Par30 bulb

This is an awesome little tank.
How do you simulate the dusk dawn effect? Do you? Have you noticed any ill effects from not doing this?

I have 2 of the BoostLED PAR30 bulbs, 40 and 60 degrees. I like the 40 better for the vase, less light spilling out, however, I do get some shaded areas at the surface.

Thanks, I don't simulate dawn/dusk, the LED is ON/OFF. they do take a few seconds to get up to full intensity but not enough time to be considered a dawn effect. I don't see any difference with the corals when compared to my main tank that has the Dawn/Dusk effect.

Thank you, it's a cool little project, I have some zoas to add to it, need to find some time to glue them.

Ok. That's good to know. I was thinking about a small tank with a PAR bulb but that was the main keep back. Thanks.

The tank is going great. I'm actually selling it, I'm planning to setup a 20L frag tank and don't have time to maintain so many tanks. If it's not sold soon I'll probably just take it down, I always wanted to try the vase thing, now that I did, time to move on ;D. Every thing would go back in my main tank or the new frag tank.

Here's the latest pic of it...
