I started my tank about 4 weeks ago. Water test results: phosphate 0.0, nitrates are either at 0 or 5.0 hard to read the color it was light yellow maybe a little darker, calcium was 480-500, KH was 125.3 and pH was 8.2-8.4. Any thoughts? I have a 24 gal nano cube with one crab 6 cleaner crabs, 6 snails and had a peppermint shrimp that died after a week not sure why. Put a new peppermint shrimp in and haven't seen it since I put it in my tank. I seen a very small what I believe was possibly a baby shrimp about a 1/4" swimming around today, but have yet to see the peppermint that I put in a few days ago. Should I wait to put fish in or am I fine to do so? Thanks in advance

I also put two ricordea a mushroom and another small coral that the LFS threw in that was a straggler in one of their tanks. They seem to be doing fine

Check your ammonia and nitrite, if they are 0 then you could add a fish or two.

Ammonia is much more toxic than nitrate. Very very good idea to test for that.

FYI I had a few peppermints randomly die on me. They were all eating fine, and one by one just die. Seems to be farely common from what I have seen. I would highly recommend getting a Blood Red if that peppermint dies. They are expensive, but will actually allow you to target feed corals unlike Scarlet Skunk Cleaners!

Still haven't seen peppermint. Woke this morning and wife said your emerald is upside down and died so half asleep still scooped it out. Wife called after work and said it was alive and didn't need to get it out. I said I already got it out, but I guess it was his molt crazy looking. It looked exactly like him lol! Glad he didn't die
