40 breeder with 20 long sump - great choice. Is your idea to hide overflow pipes on the high side of stand?

That is going to look really nice. Are you suspending the lights too?

yes, the light will be suspended over tank from an arm coming from the back. very streamline. well as streamline as i can make it so it is strong. no canopy so im a little concerned with evaporation.

I like your attitude. Are you going to use vortechs? I have two MP10s and have them on my backwall on either side - you could do something similar and hide back of pumps and cords inside that overflow wall.

As for evap, I have an open-top neo-nano (about 30 gallons) - I have a 5 gallon kent marine reservoir hooked up to a $15 kent marine float in the sump - gravity fed. This lasts me a week. Stress free - I actually love this setup. It's silent and even primes itself most times when I fill it up. I've used hi-tech ATOs like Tunze Osmolator and loved that too, but I like not having more to plug in and since I stopped doing kalk through it, it is as reliable.

was thinking of splitting my return into 2 jets, and then throwing a mp10 up front to circulate if the 2 returns arnt doing enough.

your ATO sounds like a sweet set up. do you just figure out the water level you are striving for and set the float stop to that level?

sorry im still learning. currently the biocube is very easy to run.

Yep. That's it pretty much. I just set the float about an inch in the water and it will hold that line. Of course that number depends on your mount.
