I'm thinking of tearing down and going with a simpler fowler tank. I would like to keep something different, such as a Lion/scorp/angler tank, but not sure how many I could get comfortable in the tank.

So far what I am keeping is 50 lbs of rocks, 10 gallon sump, SWC 120 skimmer, mag 7 return, 40 breeder tank, sand, and mp 10w.

I'm just not feeling reefing anymore, despite all the colors and variety it adds to the room. So I'm trying something new. I may keep my lights and just do zoas or something of the sort to add some color to the tank and minimal attention.

I will need some suggestions on livestock though. I would like either a Mombasa, Fu Manchu, or Fuzzy Dwarf (possibly all three?) as the center piece(s). I would like a swimming variety of the Lionfish but they are just way too big for a 40. As for other fish, I was thinking an angler or scorpion. Not sure which or what, I haven't any experience with them.

Now, I am pretty sure I am limited to CUC. Not sure if hermits and snails will become a quick snack, but shrimp I'm sure will. So suggestions here as well.

I'm up for a challenge and adventure and as you can see I'm open to suggestions on a variety of things.

    No one has ideas?

    Let's stir up some people!

I am thinking I can do 2 Fuzzy Dwarfs, a Raggy Stone, Sohal Tang, and if there's any room a Stingray and Boxfish.

cant wait for the overstock police to read that as being serious.

lions arent the biggest swimmers out there but still need some room. in a 40 you could possibly get away with maby like 1 dwarf & 1 angler but I wouldnt push past that cause of the bioload.

Haha it worked! I'm sure my skimmer can handle it. SWC rated it effective in a 55 gallon heavily loaded tank.

I know that Lionfish aren't swimmers like other fish. What I meant was stays more in the water column.

Maybe possibly 2 Dwarfs (or a Dwarf and Mombasa) and a Raggy Stone fish. Being serious this time. haha

Anglers are fun, but they may be hard to get in and eat the lionfish. Also, make sure you get a dwarf, not a commersons which are commonly sold as such. Google anglerfish ID and you should come upon a site that shows you how. I loved my angler, he was awesome.
    So to recap: Angler
    species tank
    heavy filtration
    don't overfeed
    colorful sponges
    lots of SB to walkabout

I like the look of anglers. They just have that clumsy goofy look to them. I will do a lot of information gathering on dwarf lionfish and anglers. I think it will make a nice looking tank. I will try to get everything weaned onto frozen krill and mysis.

I'm thinking of keeping my two islands but change it up a bit. One would be much bigger and resemble Lion King's Pride Rock, and a smaller island on the other end.

    Thoughts on this stocking list?

2 Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish and 2 Leaf Scorpions?

Maybe changing the title a bit would draw some people out.

    That's an interesting thought.
