there are soooooo many diy led threads out there. it can be very confusing. for my 40gb i going to be using a 50w 20,000k led from ebay and 2 10w royal blues

I went with half royal blues, half cool white. Haven't installed them yet, but I'll be able to control the voltage of the blues separately from the white so I could adjust how blue it was. I'm using 2 universal laptop power supplies since they have adjustable voltage and are dirt cheap. My LED setup was as cheap as or cheaper than any other lighting setup that way (besides using household bulbs, I guess).

I'm not really sure what you mean by built in led lighting, but personally i wouldnt want it anymore "built in" than you're going to do with the reefbreeders. Chances are your gonna want to pull lights and tweak things as the technology develops.

If you really want a DIY, I'd do a rapid/Cree build of about 24 whites and blues and then add about 12 mixed colors.

Prob $400-500 for the rapid/Cree if not more
or $200-300 for the reefbreeders and DONE

Both are awesome, as we've discussed, I think I'll be able to help ya out alot if you choose the Rapid method, sorry, just been busy, I'll work on them

Any idea who sells the LED's for the particular fixture linked, individually? I have two of the TaoTronics dimmables that came with blues and whites. I'm looking to swap a few out for other colors. I've noticed they're now selling the fixture with the mixed colors.

Talk to Logan with reefbreeders on here, I'm sure he can steer you straight. I just kinda looked mine over, which is pretty much the same thing you have, and it seems pretty easy to switch out. They're just bridgelux. But reefbreeders can hook you up i'm sure.

    He's anemone on here
