Hello to everyone on the reef,
Setting up my new tank in about three weeks(takes two to get the stand) will be using the Current T5's for lighting and using the Hot Shot 250 Magnum for filtration. My next question is about protein skimmers and powerheads for the tank. thinking of the hang on type was thinking of three different brands and thought i'd run them passed you to see what you think? CPR AeroForce, Reef Octopus or the Remora c? at loss for powerheads? will be having Jawfish and afew corals in the tank and lots of live sand!LOL. Thanks for the input in advance.;D

You will want about 20 times the tank volume for water circulation. Get at least 2 pumps that run about 400gph.

I have a 40 breeder and just ordered a new reef octopus!! imo they are the best skimmers but you are definitely gonna pay for them! regularly they are about 230 for my version (DNWB-110) luckily I found someone who sells them and got me a deal for 200 but still pretty expensive... as for powerheads I would say Koralia is my brand of choice and I have a Koralia 1 and Koralia nano. The nano used to be in my biocube but i put it in my 40 for some extra flow about 240 gph then the Koralia 1 does about 400gph. Prolly good enough with just the Koralia 1 but i wanted some multi directional flow! Its really preference once you reach the minimum flow suggestions...

sorry correction i meant you would be good enough with 2 of the koralia 1's but im a little under flow with the koralia nano... doesnt affect my corals though
