I have kept cichlids for more than 10 years now, and now I am setting up my first salt tank. I chose a 40b to start with. Over the last few months I have built my own stand and have started to collect all the equipment.

When I built my stand I looked at endless pictures and build threads and this is what I came up with.

I decided to put a door on the side so in the future I could slide the sump uot if I needed. I also put a door on the other side and enclose it so I would have a dry place to plug everything into my aquarium controller.

I had the tank drilled for a herbie overflow and also painted my stand and back of my tank black. I also just picked up a reef octopus nw110 and return pump. Now I just have to build the baffles in my sump.

Thanks for the feedback. I can't wait to get this tank running. Just finished up with my sump build. One more thing to check off my list.

I have now finished the plumbing on the tank. I went with a herbie overflow. I plumbed it with a 1in main drain line, a 1 1/2 emergency drain line and a 3/4 return. I added a reef octo nw110 and a rio 1700 return pump. next I have to setup my aqua controller. I need to decide on a ato, any suggestions. The new hydor ato caught my eye.

I have got to tell I have never ever seen such a clean work area. You see builds in garages all the time and the usual garage stuff but yours looks like a surgical suite.

    Tank looks excellent.
