Just setup a nice slice of the amazon for my 2 favorite tarantulas. Ive got a mated pair of Megaphobema robustum (columbian redleg). A client was going to dump this beautiful 46gallon bowfront due to a crack in the bottom.....so she gave it to me instead with the matching stand and lighting:drummer: !!! I had alot of critter gadgets in my storage and made a really nice setup for these two. Ive got a tropicare humidifier modded with a fogger inside linked to a humidistat, a nice thermostat on a heat lamp, a 40watt VHO plant bulb, and some nice amazon themed plants, drift wood, and even have matched the peat/substrate. Anyone who's done a planted terrarium knows that knats are almost unavoidable....I've comeup with a perfect biological control. 2 nice big daddt longlegs, they build there webbing in the middle through top 1/2 and have wiped out the knats. I just need to put a nice background on the tank. Its been up for about a month now and the plants have grown nicley. Im trying to find some orgainc fertilizer that wont affect the tarantulas. Are there anyother Tarantula or scolopendra frwaks here?

Sorry, I can not help you out with your critters, however I delved into a vivarium before. I used to have a few poision dart frogs for about three years- When i was moving, my land lord threw out my culture of flies, I live in the phoenix area and it was in the middle of summer so any flies shipped to me cooked.. my frogs starved that summer . the tank i had them in is now a saltwater tank.... sorry about the rambling...

if it means anything to ya, I had tree bark for the background in my tank, you should be able to find them in fairly thick nearly flat slabs at your lps...

very cool idea about how to keep the gnats down 8)

That is an awesome setup, you have the best habitat for tarantulas I've ever seen.

Added some stuff, and finally the beast emerges!

I was adding more substrate and put in a waterfall from an older enclosure. Looks like she is getting ready to molt.....;D Ive made the tank look a bit mor "natural"....and still need a nice background and a couple more plants. There MUST be some T keepers here.....:-/
