The best advice I can give you is this ...

Only bad things happen fast in a reef, so take it slow ... good things take a long time lol.

And welcome, looking forward to the progress

Everybody here has been full of helpful advice. This forum ROCKS! ;D Like I said I'm planning on adding the RO/DI water within the week and then mixing the salt in. After that I plan on buying the 50lbs. base rock and add it to the tank along with a few pounds of live rock. How long should the tank cycle and what should I do after adding the rock? Do I want to use my skimmer during the cycle time? What about my lights? Do I want to put a fish in there or just toss in raw food to provide the rock with the ammonia? I still have a ways to go before I want to put any fish in the tank.

YAY!!! I put water in the tank today, not much obviously but it will be full by the end of the week. ;D That piece of rock was given to me by the guy that I'm getting the water from. I have 45lbs. of live sand coming in the mail in the next few days too. ;D

Ok, so I went and picked up another 20 gallons of water from my buddy here in town. What I didn't know was that he had thrown a butt load of live rock in the buckets for me to have. So here's the latest picture. ;D

So far what I'm doing is running my powerheads, lights (on a timer), and heater while trying to get the rock to cure. Does this sound appropriate?
