I used to have a glass top, but it got to be such a pain cleaning it off all the time with the salt spray. Aaaannd i dropped it in the bath tub one time while cleaning it and it broke lol. Thats another reason its no longer on there. I guess i'll have to look into making a screen top for it.

Color didn't show up well, but my hawkfish posed in this one with my small duncan, recent fragged candy cane, and feather duster in the background

Armor of god. Being shy with the camera hovering over them... Chunk of hammer looks closer than it really is ha ha.

I have a 46 gallon bow front to! Check out my album. I always find it strapped for room but yours is looking good. How old did you say it was? Also the purple zoas are most likely a different color strain that was added to contrast the green ones.

Well I dove into saltwater on Januray 25th of 2010. I started in this old antique tv converted into an aquarium. About 40 gallons... I realized the limitations on space just weren't working so i moved the sand and few pieces of rock i had into my bowfront tank which was at the time a planted freshwater tank. So the bowfront has been saltwater since March 7th. Sometimes when i look at my tank wishing i could see more progress, i have to remind myself that its not even a year old!
And thats what i was thinking about the Zoas, i just didn't remember the purple in the store. I picked it up at petco for 30 bucks, i think i got a pretty good deal for a colony of that size ha ha.
Heres a few pictures of the original set-up. Was kind of neat, but for a first reef tank it just wasn't the best. BTW its for sale if anyones interested!!!

Overflow box and PVC return. Both of which i'm still using. PVC is modified a little however.

The sump area underneath. Not much room at all... Managed to squeeze in a 10 gallon cube, emperor 400 HOB and a aquaticlife 115 skimmer. Ran a mag5 return. PS, the salinity on that thing is way off. Those biocube in tank things are worthless, any current at all and you cant get an accurate reading.

I still want to add a little more rock to the display... And my 29 fuge still has a ton of room for rock. Its still not as stable as i'd like but its getting there! 2 days ago i added my first SPS. A tiny monti frag i snagged from the schools wet lab. I know absolutely NOTHING about it. But its small, and free, so i figure if it dies its not much of a loss. Heres a pic. Its not the greatest but it glows orange under the actinics and hasn't showed any signs of bleaching, and its on day 3 now. All i can really test for other than the basics Am, N, SG... is calcium. I do frequent water changes but i'm still not sure i trust my tank to an SPS. We'll see.

The LFS just got a new shipment of fish in, and there is a real nice looking red fairy wrasse in one of the tanks... I'm pretty sure he'll be finding himself a new home this afternoon!

Well the red fairy wrasse has found a new home. However his tank mates aren't very please with him. I thought for sure my hawkfish would be going after him, but it was the neon dottyback that is prolly half the wrasses size that is doing the picking. So i netted him up and he's gonna be chilling in a bag in my fuge for the night. Turned the lights off early too so that the wrasse would have a little easier time acclimating.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
The dottyback is just so beautiful, if they could place nice it would be perfect.

Did not expect to see a TV aquarium pretty cool.

When i introduced it a few months ago the hawkfish about had it killed, so i took the hawkfish out for about 2 weeks and when i put him back in he was friendly as could be. Hopefully the same trend follows this time!
