Thanks for all the compliments. I must admit that my wife, who has never owned a tank, chose the type of rock with me and basically aquascaped the tank to make it look the way it does. I choose the majority of the corals and placement depending on needs and my vision of what they might look like when grown out and we choose the fish together.

I will say I learned a lot from my first reef though and can not wait to buy a permanent house where I can build a larger tank with fuge!

I really do like your tank. The simplicity of the aquascape really sets this tank off. I am a bit concerned about the tang though. He may do ok for now but it would be heartbreaking for me to watch a fish grow for a year or two and then have to get rid of it because it got too big. You have done an awesome job with it though!

I do agree with watching a fish grow for a few years and letting it go being hard. It was one of the few fish my wife really wanted so I agreed to it knowing that in a few years it would either be upgrade or trading it in. Originally my wife was ok with trading it in, now she keeps telling me we need to get a larger tank so we can keep him :). Makes it much easier to get another tank if the wifes on board!!

    Thanks for the compliments too!

You're lucky the wife says that mine didn't want a bigger tank than our 46 gallon bow till we went snorkeling in the reef on our honey moon and said she want fish that we saw ( tangs mainly ). I told here our tank is to small. Thys when she finally let s jump up in size.

Yea my wife loves all the tangs and angels. Originally we were going to do like a 20gal reef but after seeing what she was pointing out at the lfs I came home with a surprise 46gal :). Now she wants even larger once we settle into a permanent house.

On another note, going to be time for a photo update soon. Since my last one I have added a couple montiporas, a yellow fiji leather, a blue mushroom, and a melanurus wrasse.

Coming up on the 9month mark. It seems once you hit a sweet spot everything really takes off with growth. My coralline grows faster every month and I can really tell a difference in the FTS. Also my purple stylophora has encrusted a ton and seems to have a ton of new branches coming off of it. My frogspawns and hammers all seem to be doing really well and swell up huge during mid day lighting and continue to split and grow new baby buds, even the wall frogspawn looks like it might be developing a new mouth! The xenia and jasmine polyp are spreading so quickly I often have to prune them back!!

    A FTS from the last 3 months 10-26 11-13 and 12-15

I see you live in Pittsburgh. I live about on hour away from Pittsburgh and drive to Wet Pets in Washington PA to get my fish. Where have you been getting your coral at?
