460nm vs 10000k

    i am buying a light online and the i can ether get 1 460 mn bulb or 1 10000k bulbs it will be used on soft coral so which one to get?

    what fixture do you have? if your fixture only has one bulb go with the daylight bulb(10k), if it has two bulbs do one of each.

    I would look into a 14000K personally. 10K is going to be slightly yellow. But if those are your only choices, do the 10K.

    Then you really have no choice then to go with the 10k, 460nm is a blue spectrum light(atinic) and is really only good to make the colors on corals "pop", not much of the light is actually usable to the corals. what type of light is it? cf or t5?



    i agree with above post, a 14k bulb would look better to the eye.

    Negative... Blue/actinic lamps have typically more USEABLE PAR then higher spectrums.... Its called PUR photosynetically USUABLE radiation...Take the UVL Super Actinic... Not much PAR but WICKED PUR!!

    But, you could not run a tank on just atinics where as you could run a tank on purley daylights.

    ok so i could buy 1 fixture that let me gets 2 bulbs so if i got that 1 should i get one of each or 2 of a kind
