Some guy upgraded to a 150g recently (lucky dog).
So, he sold his old 46g to the LFS. It's got everything except a return pump.
Tank, stand, pc lights, heater, inline sump w/ bioball filter/ bubble sponge/ skimmer/ fuge/ return, and old sand for $400. Sorry no pics.
I'm hoping that it will eventually function as a quarantine tank for a 180g+.
Is it worth grabbing it? If so, do I need any mods?
I appreciate the help b/c I don't have anyone else to talk fish with.

I'm sure he told me, but I really can't remember. I'm not able to understand the difference between brands at this point. It looked similar to the internet pictures for a Pro Clear Aquatics Premier 175 Wet/Dry Filter W/PREFILTER Box. The skimmer looked pretty poor compared to some of the ones I've seen on here, but I guess that's to be expected.

Sounds a little high and old. Not many people use wet dry/bio balls anymore. PC lights are pretty bad. I would pass even if you get the price down. Consider getting things with a used system that you will be able to use on your future 180 tank... Powerheads, pumps that you can use for media reactors..lights/ballast and you can always use nice Rock.

I found a local club last week. I just haven't found any good deals yet.
While I've got a somewhat captive audience. The LFS guy and I also got into the discussion about tank filtration. I suggested a filtration setup with split sump (macro fuge & skimmer), DSB, and life rock. He said it'll never work. My water won't ever clear, and suggested using wet/dry trickle or filter sock. I'd love to stay away from mechanical filters if at all possible. Is it advisable to run a tank without extra filters?
