    I have a custom 60 gal reef tank.. Around 10 months old..

    My GF asked me how hard it would be to move it from the LR to the Den..
    I said not to hard
    I want a bigger tank anyway.. She knows nothing about tanks, Or how much I spend.. And I'll keep it that way.. LOL
    I still have to save the money, and
    it'll have to be a used set-up.. I need to stay in the 48 inch long range..
    But would like in the 100 gal range or alittle more..
    What size would you think best..??
    And if you have the LxWxH .. That would be a BIG help..
    I'll only have one tank.. It'll take me 3 to 4 months to get the money together, so I want be in a hurry.. Just like to know what size tank would be best for me..So I'll have an idea what to look for..

    Thanks for any info, Larry

    You can get 48" tanks all the way to 210 gallons. If it were me personally, I wouldn't do more than a 90 in 48". Any more, they get too tall and look disproportionate, along with the logistical troubles of tall tanks.

    Freakishly deep could be fun! Get the shorting tank you can find for the size you want.... I have a 55 tall, and its great... but I wish it was deeper and shorter.

    heres a couple of common ones
    48x18x24 = 90gl
    48x24x24 = 120gl
    48x24x30 = 150gl
    Personaly I prefer a tall wide tank a 150gl penintular is my current project , it depends on what you like , shallow reef or bombies
    also what fits in the room

    Can I ask why it needs to stay a 48"?

    I have the first. My lovely 90g. But if I had had the stand, I would have gone 120g. That extra six inches in depth gives SO much more in aquascaping possibilities. I do believe Brandon has a 120g of this ilk.

    120g is the way to go in 48" tanks. 48x24x24.

    Thanks Guys..

    PackLeader ..I might be able to go with a 5 footer.. But the 120 sounds real good..
    My tank.. made by a friend.. is 44x17x17 strange size but was free..
    Like P'John said, I also need to see what'll work in that size room..
    I'll only be able to do this once.. So I have to get it right.. I'm sure it'll be the last tank I'll ever get to do..

    Thanks again for any info, Larry

    Was just going with 48 inches.. Because my GF asked if the bigger tank would be longer.. I said yes 4 inches.. She looked at me a little funny..
    But she'll get over it..
    But if anyone has any LxWxH on a 5 footer......
    I didn't want to go above around 125 gal.. Due to cost will still be a factor..
    I can cut a hole in the wall and do something, my computer room is on the other side from where the tank will be.... Everthing is in the planning stages right now..

    And this time around I will go with the best lights.. Now that I know better..

    No, I just wasn't sure if it was room requirements or stand. Was going to say, you would have to do something with the stand when upgrading anyways most likely, so not to get too fixed on the size if that was the case.
    Room requirements, well not much can be done that way ;)
