    Hey guys,

Well Greg over at ReefGeek.com, seems to think a 6-8 bulb tek light would work great over a 60 inch tank. I know it sounds kinda wierd, but that is kinda how a MH light works. You get direct light right over the light, but you get low light spots around the edges. I never really thought of it like this. I could put the shrooms around the edges, and the softies, and lps in the middle. I will just have to put the fixture on the lids till I could hang it in a canopy, or just hang it from the roof. Let me know what you think, I mite just have to go for it, :hehe:

Sounds good to me. I love the T-5HOs and greg is a good guy ha. The hanging system that comes with their fixtures is really great. I think it was $20 extra for the steel cable kit, but well worth it. I think that the 8 bulb would be good. Just make sure it isnt too wide hah.

Thanks Bruce!! Yea Greg is really helpfull. I just told him what I wanted to keep, and the size tank, and he laid down the line, lol. He said they dont make a 60" because people have had great sucsess with the 48 inch over the 60" tanks. The light will spread nicely in the tank. My tank is 18 inchs wide, so a 6-8 bulb system would work. I just dont know how high to put it over the tank. I dont want my whole room turning blue, lol. I cant wait!! Im gonna save up, and hopfully get in in the next couple of weeks!! Then the tank will start getting algea, and coralline. I mite have to move my BTA, it will like the t-5's better than the PC's. Thanks again Bruce for pushing t-5's on me, I think im gonna be really happy with them,

sweet :) . I cant wait either!!! Ive heard nothing but good about the t-5's. I just dont know what color of bulbs to get. I like the bright blue look of the 14k bulbs, but t-5's only go up to 11k. I guess ill get like 4 11k bulbs, and 2 actinic 03 bulbs.

Birchell, its sad to say, but i have t5 and dont know too much about them. The tank just finished its cycle, thus im now gonna start to stock. In my sig you can see the bulb combination i have, and i think its just perfect, not too blue, but definitely not white.
If you whant, i can try to shoot some pics to outline the color of my fixtures. Maybe you can at least get an idea of bulb colors.

that sounds great turbo. pics are always nice, :hehe: . I do like the color of your tank. Im just not gonna have 10 bulbs, lol. 6 54 watters is what im shooting for. The 8 bulb setup is 19 inchs wide, and my tank is only 18 inchs, so that is out. Just post some pics when you get time, no rush I have some time, lol.

Well I have money in hand to get the light. Im gonna order the 6 bulb tek light. Im gonna get 1 6500k bulb, 2 11k bulbs, and 3 super actinic 03 bulbs. This should give me a nice blue glow. The 6500k and the 11k bulbs are full spectrum, so it will give the lps and softies the red, orange, and yellow they need. Wish me luck!! Ill post pics when it comes in,

Great choice. I have 1 6500k 1 11,000k and 2 actinics...though I think i might change the 6500k to an 11,000k. But since you will be haveing more blue i dont think the yellow will be a problem for you...infact its not really a problem for me...I just notice everything hah.
