48x15x20-ish do they make them in glass?

Would be perfect size for me, just cant find them in glass. Custom built would be too expensive for my pockets.

 

Sounds like close to a regular 4 ft 75 gallon. Just get a 75gal, they're common.

 

If you didn't care about going a little smaller, the standard 55 gal. is 48"X12X20

 

how bout a 55 gal glass 48x12x18...... every lfs sells them...petco and petsmart too

yup i just seen them on some web site its a 60 gal.
i remember cause i got mad and wish i would have seen that shape when i got mine. (48x13x24)

 

Thanks for the ideas, but, no, I am talking a true 15"er. I have a 36x15x17 in me living room and thats too short. I am tank envy and want bigger because I do have a little more room. Because of the size of my small room, and the spacing i need from the back of the wall, 18"D would be too big, would push it out to 21" minimum. 12"D is way to small, would never go that route. The 15" tank I have now is perfect as far as depth goes. Like you all say, I can find them in 12/13 and 18 all day long. I saw one a while back that was 15", so the seller said, but, that got away from me. 48x15 would give me exactly what the room needs, not too much and not too little. I want to get a tank now so I can start my cycle but it seems I am looking for a needle in a haystack. Yea, i am being difficult......again :-/

 

Look at this site--Glasscages.com - Home They list a glass 48 x 18 x 21 Tall (75 gal Tall) for $143 + customization. This comes to like $283 for "reef ready", which is 1 glass wall overflow with 2 holes for the overflow, bulkheads, and an acrylic cover. This site lets you fully customize what you want from very basic to starphire glass to custom sumps and you are able to see all prices. They also list all kind of drop sites all over the country.

OOPS-- Sorry, just saw that 18 is too wide, but I do believe they will custom build you a tank, and the prices seem reasonable.

 

Build yourself! --- to exact specifications you want.

Give local glass company a call, and they will cut glass pieces you want to correct size.

1/4 inch glass is about $6.00 sq. foot. --- not that much for thicker.

Buy the glass...and usually the cutting is thrown in.

I am going to pull apart my ancient 55 gallon that has been around the world about 6X. Is heavy 3/8 inch glass...

Am finally getting around to building a proper sump to replace the old rubbermaid.

Glass Co. will cut to sizes I need for about $20.

Anybody have good idea how to "unglue" an old tank???? --- Best I can think of is a heavy duty heat gun or blow torch (but don't want to take chance of tempering glass) :-/

 

I checked them out, not bad prices. If it was not for the fact I have to pay for three tickets, $400 in taxes, dog to get x-rays,and the fact my muffler just fell off coming home from work today (thats the least of my worrys), I honestly might consider them.

I was actually thinking of making my own, but, I have heard home built aquariums dont stay together too well like the ones bought. Something about the goo we get at home depot ant as strong as the industrial stuff maybe? Another thing is the plastic that goes on and bottom of the tanks, kinda want that too. Other than that, i was really looking into it.

Dont see why you cant run a thin single sided razer blade in each corner to seperate. Put a towel down in front of a panel and keep slicing at the corners until you can wedge the thin blade in there and work it all the way through.
