4'x2'x2' Custom Reef build with LED

This thread will document the progression of a new reef system.

The tank is a glass LeeMar custom 120 (4x2x2 foot). Will be in custom entertainment unit with front panel only viewable. Front panel is starfire glass.
Left rear corner overflow with 1.5 drain and 3/4 inch return.
Main circulation will be from 2 Vortech MP40's. Return pump is a Sicca 4.
Lighting will be DIY CREE (48 retro kit from Rapid LED).

Here's the sketch of the cabinetry. The opening in the mid section will house the tank.

 

Nice, can't wait to see the progress. I'm also thinking of ordering this exact tank friday with the left corner overflow. Looks like you have a great idea for your build...

Very nice design

 

Just dug my Apex out of my stored equipment. It's been a year now, so updated the software and reconnected the network settings and iPhone. Can't wait to start putting it all together.

 

Very cool stuff. I will be following this as I have a similar setup and I debating of doing LEDs. 48 might not be enough for coverage on that tank.

Supernova- I was concerned of that as well. May add more later. For now, if I have to I can add halides as I have spare 175 and 400 w but will try not to if at all possible!
