    Now as for lighting.I was thinking of mh with led/t5 supp but now I'm thinking radions.How many do you think I would need if the tank in only 15" deep?Could I get away with 2 and build a center rock island?

    I do think that two would be fine radions would be great.

    maybe a foot off the water? I don't have an experience with the radion so im not 100% sure.

    ecotech usually says 6 to 8 inches above the water, have a 24 by 24 by 14 deep tank. i have one over it and am at 80% power. ecotech says to put the light at that height and lower power if needed. google ecotech community they have a site with questions and answers i think you will find all you need to know there
