    Why not a 2 x 150w HQI setup w/ 2x 5w T5HO?

I would go with 6x54w T5 if you really want to keep sps. You won't get nearly as good color and growth if you use 4x54 on a 75.

That's exactly what I was originally thinking, actually. Figured I'd build my own canopy and buy retro kits. But the more I looked at it, it seemed I could just buy a ready made t5 light for the same money and save the hassle.

    Was I wrong?

You can get a new 6 bulb t5 light with 3 power cords and moon lights and legs and individual reflectors(on the bay) from a store Torontofalls211 with buy it now for about 280. I bought one recently and am very happy with it. It is about the same price as the 4 bulb unit you listed.

Just be careful of what you buy its all about the ballast and bulbs. Thats why I would go with the TEK

I have 4x54 tek t5s and was bleaching lps in the middle of my rocks. SPS were definitely thriving when water parameters were stable. But I agree 6 T5s gives more versatility towards color.

Okay, six bulbs it is. Should I go three 10K's and three 420 actinics?

it depends on what color suits you. If you want a little bluer look, you can go with 12,000k white actinic bulbs, or just a combination. One of the great things about T5 lighting is the variety of bulbs that are offered.
