Well at the moment I am going to be using Chemi Pure Elite until I get my sump up and running. Would you use something different? Also I have phosphate issues since I started my tank, my Niterite and Nitrate are both at 0..

Purigen would be good. That's a sweet plan! A PVC overflow into a 5.5g sump with mangroves, a HOB filter and LR. I really think I'm going to have to do this... When I have money that is.;) you could always do a filter sock.

Chemi Pure Elite is a good product. Not all carbons are created equal, thats why I ask. Haha. I recently switched carbon brands and I could tell it made a difference within a day. If you ran GFO (granular pherric oxide) in your InTank media basket that could make a difference as well. Do you have a TDS meter to test your water going into your tank? And you are using RO-DI water correct?

Yeah, I am using the Bulk Reef Supply 75 GPD 5 Stage RO/DI with Dual TDS.

Dude, you are really helpful btw. Thanks so much, you are making this snow day a lot better.

I used a regular circular saw. It was a small ryobi handheld one. Just make sure to start at both ends.

what i mean is that if you cut it like you would wood, the end cut will chip a piece off. I did it for my sump like you so it wasnt that big of a deal. so make a line w/ a sharpie. and do a small 2" cut at one end and just cut. Seemed to help reduce that chip all together. im sure a bandsaw would be ideal but i dont have one :(

Hmmm. I dont think so. But Im not totally sure on that one. I would assume you could use a dremel then clean up the edges. Hopefully someone else will chime in with their opinion as well.

i used my diamond bit from drilling my tank to smooth and round the edges. I had it on hand and used it. Worked great. If not dremel bits would own that.

i wanna dremel so friggin bad you have no idea. I could make so many things!! lol

Oh good idea. Dremels are handy. You can get the base package for like 30 bucks at Home Depot. The company I work for burns through them all the time. They arent meant to do any strenuous work like we put them through. Haha. I think we got seven new ones this year. Still cheaper than the 1100 dollar Fein caulk cutter use though.
