It is amazing what lurks out there in the deep. Researchers over the weekend say they've found 5,722 species living in the extreme ocean depths, waters deeper than 3,280 feet - and over 5,600 are new! These are just some of the facinating observations made from this deep sea census sponsored by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. 'Once the census is complete, the plan is to publish three books: a popular survey of sea life, a second book with chapters for each working group and a third focusing on biodiversity.'

It still amazes me how little we know about our own planet, and they r putting so much into searchind for life on other planets and space exploration. I'm all for that I love space and would like to meet some aliens, but how about figuring out our own planet first.
