Felt it here in Simsbury, CT too. I high tailed it out of my office. If today was my day to die, I wasn't going to be sitting in my crappy work cubicle when it happened.

My mom and my sisters live in Arlington and I couldnt get a hold of my mom. Good thing I texted my sister. She only lives a mile away so i hope to hear something soon.

I work in DC...definately felt it here, they evacuated the building and all the buildings all around me. The sidewalks were wall to wall people for a bit, but it is calming down now.

The biggest thing I'm thinking now is my commute is going to be even worse than usual today it's normally two hours each way as I live quite a ways outside the District. Who knows how long tonight. Ugh.

Glad there haven't been many reported injuries though!

It was 5.9 at the epicenter in Mineral VA. I'm not discounting the psychological effect of an earthquake but.....being so far from the epicenter it wasn't actually still 5.8-9 when it got there.

There's been some damage (mostly water) to the Pentagon and the National Basilica.

Also, some cell towers are down so just because you can't reach a loved one doesnt mean the worst. Stay positive!

Ultimately doesn't matter, no one really is safe from the earth moving. For the east, it's a wake up call. For the west, business as usual.
