Well living up here in the great state of maine we had a wind storm with 70 mph winds and hav e lost power for 5 days. We just got it back. The 220 was hooked to a generator and the 92 was also but the red sea max had a crash. We lost all 10 clowns that were in it and all the corals in that also. I had just got in a bunch of fish and had them all in qt and the list of fish I lost were 4 kole, 4 yellow tangs that I got for the 220 for schooling in the tank. The 220 seemed to suffer no casualities as it too had recent tank mates of the pair of crosshatch triggers, the potters wrasse, and the black tang.

My wife made me laugh pretty hard last night when I said lets plug in the furnace and warm the house back up and she said keep the fish warm we have blankets. The 92 I thought was going to crash because it was low on water when the power went out and the skimmer ended up not being able to work the second day and the pick up for the return pump was sucking air also. I ended up getting some rodi water from a friend yesterday and tankfully did not lose any of the fish in there as its a stars and stripes puffer and 2 lions in there along with some smaller aggrissive fish.

All and all is that I just got my power back on and my 3reef is back too. So anyway it was the story of my week haha.

nice job having the generators.....thats the way to go. I have an APC UPS hooked up to my tank now, but when we build our next house I am going with an LP automatic generator....along with many other things for the fish.....we'll just live there.!

That sucks, we got lucky, we missed the strongest part of the storm, but I heard there were gusts up to 90mph. I knew some reefers up there would lose power, but for 5 days, that's intense. At least you had the generator and an understanding wife.

5 days is really pushing it. If I'm gone without electricity for 10 mins I begin to panic. I have a UPS I plan to run just 2 air stones or so in case of an outage. I better get my hands on a small generator.
Sorry about your losses but at least you didn't loose everything.

Good to hear that you actually thought ahead and had a generator. Most wait until they loose power to think about it.

It was an ice storm 2 years ago that took me out for many days also that I bought one. I was fortunate during that storm that they had plenty. I got a 6500 watt so it can run most of the house. I am just glad I did not lose the expensive fish! Not that I wanted any loss but the cross hatches sell around here for 800, my black tang is not replaceable as nobody seems to have them and so on and to boot the large clam and the list goes on.
