    Its a common problem on the smaller set ups IME
    the range of things like power heads and lighting do favour the bigger tanks as in the world of reef keeping thats where the bigger market it

    Robman has a 5 gallon nano and he found and is using a small water feature type powerhead ( the ones used for indoor fountain type water features) its a lot smaller but still does 100 gph I believe and that 20 x water turnover in a 5 which combined with the 100 gph you have on the HOB means 40 x tank volume = ideal for Zoanthids and less bulky than your exising K wave maker

    so anyway now that i have that Black Mollie should i have the Skimmer in there or just let the HOB filter do the work

    Skimming - isnt really required at present, the HOB will develop enough bacteria to deal with that mollies wastes

    skimming - will be a beneficial addition when you start adding other things to your set up
