5 Gallon Nano Reef

I will be starting up a new Nano Reef and wanted to start a thread on it to get some feedback on it.

My set up will consist of:
-L.E.D Clamp lights High Output - Wave Point® Technology
-5 Gallon Tank
-AC 50 Power Filter

I need some suggestions regarding nice unique fish to get. Im planning on going with a scooter blenny and im not sure which other to get that will swim around.

Will post pics of set up as soon as I can.

Livestock plans:
- Cleaner or blood shrimp
- Scooter Blenny

Will transfer my corals from my 29g biocube which consists of:
Open Brain Coral
Blasto
Orange Ricordia
Some zoa's
Galaxia
Orange Plate
Some mushroom frag and some polyp frag

 

Ditch the scooter(or any dragonet) idea. It will starve to death in 5 gallon as live copepods and annelids are it's prefered diet. They can be trained to other foods with time and patience, but even then, copepods make up most of their diet. There are numerous small gobies(Trimma, Clown, Rainfords, etc.) and a few blennies(Molly Millers are awesome! I have yet to see a pic that does them justice.) that would fit the bill for you. As far as other fish, Gumdrop Velvetfish(venomous!) and Hifin Perchlet come to mind.

 

My all time favorite nano fish has got to be the, Flaming Prawn Goby! You haven't seen a more colorful, more beautiful fish at just over 1" max size. Check it out you'll see what I mean

I would go with a Clown gobies or two they do come in a few colors

 

I've been thinking about choosing a clown goby.

Ok so after the delay i finally got my tank set up.

I ended up getting a AC 50 which i wil soon turn into a fuge or maybe even leave the inserts (Got a whole free year of inserts with my purchase). I also ended up getting the HO WavePoint LED's and i added 10 lbs of live sand and about 10 lbs of rock will post new pics tomm when it clears up.

I had to cut the edge of the inside of the rim in order to clamp the LED's

Ok finally cycled the tank and had some hermits and snails in the tank for 2 days and they are fine.



Today I sold my biocube and had to move my corals so just decided to put them in tank.

I have a orange ricordia, some zoa's, galaxia, blasto, orange plate, open brain, and a red acan which is finally healthy after a accident.



I need some help regarding the fuge mod.

I want to put a scooter blenny in there and i'm aware of the copepods needed. I plan on turning my AC 50 in a fuge which I will get done probably thursday. When setting up the fuge should i use a sand bed then some rocks and then cheato ontop?

I also am currently using the inserts that came with the Aqua Clear, should I keep using any of them? I have the sponge, carbon, and the biomax rocks.

I also have plans on getting a clown goby and 2 active fish i would get a pair of clowns but im at the point i want to get some unique fish

When using silicone to put the egg crate part to slow the flow of the ac 50 fuge does it matter what silicone I use?
