the light is a 10 watt 50/50 compact flourescent. i got it for the time being until my boost led light comes. i have yet to get a good test kit, but with crappy old one i read near zero, i will be buying a master kit this weekend though. hopefully that will uncover the problem.

the light is from petco, its nothing special but it looks better than just a 6500k light

I wouldn't use the light until the real bulb comes in.

I would get a test kit that has a low range ability, because the 1-100 charts are useless for low levels.

the tank has been set up for over a month now and everything but the sand and new water is from my previous 55 gallon tank that was running for a year. the test kit im looking at is an api reef master test kit, will this be okay for low range?

I don't believe API will have a low range ability.

I use salifert and like them, let me easily test around 1-2 ppm. I think there are a few others too.

I thought that I would do an update on my nano reef. Since my last post quite a bit has changed. Got the boost led bulb over it, hydor koralia nano 1 (240gph) and got some more rock and re did the rockscape. Add a couple of corals as well. Got a Rose Acropora Millepora, and bright green zoas. Have a look at the pics and let me know what you think.

Nice setup you have there. I also have the BoostLED on mine and I'm very happy with the results. Looks like you got the 4xblue, 1xwhite combo, that's what I'm currently running. I also have the 3xblue, 2xwhite that I initially got but didn't like the look too much, that bulb is currently on my fuge.
