At some point in the next few months this tank will be moving locations for sure and potentially changing hands with my buddy who has a Biocube 14

NEW Pics! The 500 day mark has passed now. I've managed to learn some things along the way. Mainly quarantining stuff. Some Coraline devouring Asterina stars came in on some rock at about the 9 month mark and until a month ago their population exploded decimating most of the Coraline growth. I had to pull out he only thing I could think of to erradicate them.

    :In steps Harlequin Shrimp:

Within hours of introducing this shrimp it was going crazy on the Asterinas fearlessly cruising around the tank picking them off. Now, 3 weeks later the population of hundreds has been reduced to several dozen perhaps and the Coraline is immediately springing back into action. Originally I was only planning on keeping it until the Asterinas were erradicated and returning him for trade at the store but the coloration of the shell is intoxicating. Maybe I'll pick up a few sand sifters to keep him for a while. Here is the best shot I could pull off today before leaving for work. Thankfully he cooperates with photography by moving very slowly and methodically. Still, even using a macro lens and a tripod the limited depth of field makes capturing the image of his one inch body very difficult. For this shot I had to go manual focus with no flash and ISO 800.

And the obligatory shot of my favorite and only fish to be with me nearly the entire life of the tank. It seems now that the yellow on its body is done fading and is now adding black overall.

Thanks Mr Z. My current fish are 2 Black Misbar Clowns and 1 Desjardin Zebrasoma

Thanks 2in10. My Macro photography skills are next to nill so I'm relying on some really nice equipment that I've borrowed from a friend to pic up the slack.

Nice looking tank. Hope you get the 180g up soon. If I were you, I wouldn't buy the Achilles tang unless you know what your doing, they are ich magnets and hard to keep. Don't want to let your $200 go to waste here. The purple tang is getting rarer and rarer everyday. I expect them to be worth around $200 soon. Also, you can only have 2 clowns per tank.

One new shot from the night. This is with 1 UVL 420/456nm and the R2 Moonlights on. This frag was originally 15 heads and now has surpassed countable numbers. I'd guess 200+...? This frags growth and color has made me much more interested corals where originally I was very fish oriented.

Here is the setup. Image taken with my iPhone which clearly has some white balance issues with such a wide color gamut. Camera is a Cannon EOS 40D w/ macro lense. Tripod is an old mini Nikkon.

Thats tank is much to small for a sand sifting starfish. I'm pretty sure it started to die which is why the brittle drug it into its cave. When sand sifters die they lose appendages and start to rot. They will stay like this for several more weeks until they melt down from lack of food. <--- sorry i'm a HUGE advocate on the collection of sand sifters and horse shoe crabs.

Anyways I love the tank! Your sailfin is so cute! Also that mystery coral is a Kenya Tree coral- member of the leather family and will grow like a weed ( I started out with a pinky size hitchhiker and now have a forest that is 8" tall and 5" wide.)
