where do you live? Unless your in arctic conditions inside your home I say screw heaters :D If your house stays at a decent temp you should be fine. I got rid of my heater.

I live in Dallas. In the winter my downstairs area where the aquarium sits is always cold.
If I kept my house at 76 in the winter I would be burning up. It's in the 60's in the winter, but that may have to change with an aquarium.
In the summer it's around 72 inside. 200 gallon tank. I'm new to this so I just don't want to end up in a jam with a cold tank and tiny heater that can't heat 200 gallons ya know.

Id always have a heater, a ranco controller will offer the piece of mind. I also wouldnt put all my eggs in one basket with one massive heater either. 2 250s and a ranco or a controller would be ideal.
