53g stocking

The tank is 48x15x17", I was planning on 1 Kole tang, 2 false percs, 1 christmas wrasse, 1 flame hawkfish, 3 yellow clown gobies, and a blackcap basslet

Does this sound good?

 

Fish only or reef? I'd say too much for reef.

 

It will be a FOWLR for about 6months but after it will be a reef. What if I switched the christmas wrasse for a fairy wrasse or sixline? and also I could only have 1 or 2 yellow clown gobies

 

If you want a passive tank reconsider the basslet or add last, same goes for the 6 line.

 

I would ditch the Christmas Wrasse for sure. I had one and it was a true pain. Fairy wrasses can be beautiful too. I would say 2 clown gobies would be better then four, unless you are absolutely sure you will want no more fish.

 

I don't think Flame Hawkfish go well with reef tanks and I would take out the wrasse. I think 2 clown gobies would be better territory wise.

could I add anything else and what would you suggest? i like most basslets and wrasses, im open to options though

 

i wouldn't add any more in a 55. some people will tell you to remove the tang.

For the others, what do you have against the Christmas wrasse? mine has been trouble free.

 

More than anything is size.

 

Royal Gramma similar to basslet but not aggressive for the most part.

Firefish, orange or purple.

Dwarf angel only if you are not going to have clams or stoney corals. Some are model citizens some go bad down the line.
