55 Gal Beginning

So i have ordered 50lbs of Marco Key Largo Dry Rock, i will buy about 20lbs of LR from my LFS once i get everything ordered. and tomorrow i will be ordering a protein skimmer.....not sure which one.

 

Dont know if your interested but i have a place to get live rock out of destin florida as cheap as base rock and the guy sells really nice corals and equipment for super cheap. He has a site not that great but if your interested give him a call heres the site. Matt's Coral Connection - Home

My light finally came in!!! ;D

excuse the fingerprints...i got a little excited.


i couldn't clean off the salt marks on the tank, but when there is water in there you can't see it.

bored....another picture of my lights & streaky empty tank

 

it's been a while...here are some updates.

I spent most of the day building my stand with my Dad. The only person I know here who has any woodworking skills. Lol. Here are the pictures from today's progress.




The mostly finished frame. we added 3 more center braces. Just for my sanity. One on the bottom and the other 2 on the front and back.


Tomorrow we are putting the plywood on and staining it. All together this cost me $105 including plywood, 2x4, nails, and stain. Not too bad! This thing is STURDY.

 

oh yeah, and i also cancelled my order through marcorocks. so frustrating! !! So, I bought 90lbs of LR off of a website that someone I know used and his rocks are gorgeous. I got 90lbs on "Premium" Fiji LR for $286 with shipping. It comes in on Thursday. So, I probably need to get some water soon. lol

 

1st coat of stain on, doing 2nd coat later.
Polyurethane tomorrow ;D
