That’s what I thought, but I wanted to make sure.

Also, I will be making a somewhat diy wave maker. This is the timer I will use Reptile Terrarium Lighting Accessories: Coralife Power Centers at Drs. Foster and Smith
Which brand of power heads will hold up to the constant on off on off?
I will try to explain what I want to do. I will put one power head in the day plug, and one in the night plug. I will push every other tab down, so one will be on for a few minuets, and then the other one will turn on. Sense they will be on apposite sides; they will create a somewhat wave motion. Will this work?

Sorry I have no info on siphon overflows, I avoid them all like the plague. :)

For the wavemaker idea the powerheads I've heard mentioned most are Maxijets. People have done it with Koralias but I've heard they burn out quite often.
One thing to be careful of with on/off wavemakers is that since the powerhead is constantly turning on and off it's a little more dangerous for your tank inhabitants who might take cover in/around a turned off powerhead one minute and the next it's going full bore.

    Good point.
If I get maxi-jets, I would get these kits. Algae Free Sure Flow 1600 Maxi-Jet Upgrade Kit
Algae Free Sure Grip 50 Magnetic Powerhead Holder Details
    Maxi-Jet Powerhead
Would the guard in the kit keep fish out?

Would the power head combo work?
