First off, here is my 55 reef. Had it going for about 2 years now. Just recently moved and adjusted some of the scape. Had some die off from rocks being out of water too long(you will notice the corals not looking very happy) but that is all being taken care off.

    The real reason I posted:[IMG]
This is my other 55 that is currently serving as a sump. I would like to turn this into a small predator tank. I am thinking a small puffer, trigger(still debating), wrasse, hawkfish, or dwarf lion. I am only going to get 2 or 3 out of that selection...probably 2.

If I were to get 3 I was thinking:
    Papuan Toby Puffer
    Bursa Trigger
Flame Hawk or Fu Man Chu Lion

I am not running a skimmer, I am running an algae scrubber, so that is a concern with having 3 predators.

    If it were two:
    Toby Puffer
    Trigger or Lion

So what do you think? Any concerns, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

So if I'm reading this correctly, you want to turn the sump of your reef tank, into a predator/carnivore tank? If so, I recommend against it. You should setup a separate system to do the predator tank. Predator fish eat alot and can be super messy, which usually doesn't fair well with corals.

I agree, well I actually think if the omnivore fish were the sump and the carnivore fish were the display it would have a better chance at doing good

Pred. Fish.... I'd go tang or trigger with a puffer and a wrasse

    Just an update...

I have a Yellow Tang, Orange shoulder wrasse, and Yellow watchman goby in my 55 gal DT. Moved my Coral Beauty and pair of Tomato clowns into the 55 gal Sump.

I went to the LFS today and they had a Picasso Trig and a Blue Spotted Puffer. I originally planned on getting both of them to put in the DT, but the manager at the LFS talked me out of it saying the the Trig would eventually eat the Puffer when it got bigger. So I got the Puffer and he is in the DT now.

So what else should I get for the DT? Looking for a small predator...hawkfish? dwarf lion? some other Trig? something else? Thanks in advance.

I smell a hint of the Tang Police coming your way! I do have a question? DO you have a Skimmer, or other type of filtration system? I would think double the bio-load would cause some issues. Cool idea though.

Their is a skimmer in the sump and an algae scrubber coming off the overflow box.

I only plan on adding this one additional fish...so it shouldn't be double the bio-load.
