One always likes to keep at least a clownfish. I think they seem to do very well in pairs. Maroons can be terrors so if you do go that route, add last. Dwarf angels are a really neat addition. There are several that are considered "reef safe" with caution. Pygmy, flame, potter's to name a few. I also love my goby/pistol pair. I think yellow watchman gobies are super cool. I have a midas blenny that I love - is a super peaceful member of my tank. I know there are quite a few wrasses out there that are really beautiful. I have heard but have no personal experience that the six line can be quite aggressive. I really think others have much prettier coloration.

I believe there is a sticky in the forum written by one of the members (Evolved) who is an expert on wrasses. It talks about reef safe wrasses. One thing that you will have to have is some sort of cover on the tank because wrasses are known to jump.

I am sitting here thinking about the fish I want to put in my 55g tank. My cycle is not even close to being done, but I am hoping my QT will be ready for a couple specimens in the next couple of weeks.

I have a thread up about the fish I am looking at putting in my tank. Here is a link to the discussion thread. http://www.3reef.com/forums/tropical-fish/my-55g-tank-list-possible-fish-148154.html

There is a lot of possibilities.

Another good addition is purple fire fish. There stunning to watch. To each his own but my yellow tang has been part of the family since I started the hobby and hes loving life in the 55. Gheres cool types of cardinal fish and like OFK said, yellow watchmans are great. Thats another fish I've had since I started a year ago. Lots of personality. Write down a list and do some research before you buy.

I think the point Cheryl was trying to make is while something may work for you, if it is questionable as far as responsible husbandry goes, don't advertise it ;) The minimum size on LA is 100 gallons. While they may do quite well in a 90, or even a 75, I don't think an 8" long, very active swimmer belongs in a 12" width tank.

But as far as your other suggestions, I do agree with the Firefish, Cardinals, and Watchman Gobies. These would all be wonderful additions to a 55 8)

I would do a pair of maroon clowns for sure, they are my favorite type of clowns. I recently bought a two gold striped maroons and they are both doing great, although probably because one is 3 times the size of the other and the other submitted to the larger one. Unfortunately I have no idea how 3 would do together.

    3 Maroons?
    AKA two
IMO maroons or a large specie of clown would work for a more aggressive tank but so far I've seen cards, gobies, and firefish, which are fish for more peaceful
