Any recommended supplements (Brands, etc) once I get a lot of SPS (If I do)?

kalkwasser with a reactor down the road for a SPS tank is a good start.. as your caclium and alk/dkh will be reduced with those corals. you can use kent M for mag. you can get away with out a reactor for a while and do the drip method for kalk. but only use kalk when calcium and alk/dkh need boosting. if only calcium is low then use a kent calcium booster or similiar product that only raise calcium..

I currently have a 6x54w Tek T5 fixture over my 55 and really like it. You can keep any sps and I"ve found that I've actually had to move some down further, especially the montis and birdsnest type corals. I actually have a Bird of Paradise nearly on the bottom. I moved it up further, but the colors started to fade, so I needed to move it back down. I also have a very happy crocea clam in my rocks. But as Steve said, I've found that my Acros were better able to handle the higher light, so you may want to keep those higher up

I also wanted to state generally, that IMO, I don't think SPS are much harder to keep then lps or soft corals. They do need more light and flow, but that's about it. I've only lost 1 sps coral due to RTN for some reason, but that was after I just had gotten it.

Thank you, that's what I wanted to hear. I didn't want to start getting these beautiful sps corals and then they start dieing on me. It's nice to know they aren't much more difficult. I also love clams!

Thanks man. I'm 16 and I really don't have much experience either, but I love it. Can't wait to start SPS.
