Just found your thread. So the other colors didn't mix to add enough "white" overall? Post some pictures of the tank for us to see please :) I bet that extra blue is making the corals pop. I would think switching 2 of the UV's for warm whites would whiten (if that's a word) the tank easily. You could move two blues to the "color" strand and put the warm whites on the blue/white strand.

    The greens really stand out.

Cranked all the way up, the tank color looks fine, but all the way down/dimmed gives a pinkish/purplish/bluish look. The reds wash out.

It's not even really that blue look you would expect from a lot of blue diodes, more purple/pink.

I can either take out diodes or add diodes to my string.

So u think warm white will help whiten it up better than neutral or cool? I have 4 neutral now.

I am pretty sure the purpleish color you are getting is from the UV diodes. If I were you I would switch 2 of the 4 out for another color. Warm whites will noticibly whiten the tank/round off the colors. Neutral whites will do the same just not as drastic as the warms. If it looks good on full power then I would probably go with nuetral whites.

Well I found some cool white Cree Diodes here locally. What kind of effect do you think those would make, if I went with them?

It would say it would lower the purpleish color and brighten the overall look a bit. It wouldn't remove too much of the bluish color but make the water look more "clean" (?). Think glacier water commercial lol. I say go for it. Especially if its local you could try it tonight :)

That may be what it needs. Seems a bit purple and dark, granted I have it at the lowest possible level too.

Replaced two violets with 2 cool blue and it still seems so purple. If I crank it up to about 50% it looks good. Below that it seems dark and purple, at least compared to the halide.

Looks better turned up to 70-75%. Looks like my halide did. Decided to run it at this percentage for 3 hrs to adjust rather than dimming. I'll adjust up an hour a week.

If things start to bleach, I'll change my approach. Still might add another white or two in place of both violets or one and a red. Still a tint of pink/purple.

I like how it looks if the picture is accurate. You could always use the warm whites :) Have you tried doing 70% blue/white and 50% colors or 25% colors? That would lower the intesity of the light and help you lose some of the purple/pink.
