So I am finally upgraded to my 55 (1.5 years later). Unfortunately, I'll be moving as well (see my 20 gallon SPS reef here:http://www.3reef.com/forums/sps-corals/20-gallon-reef-top-down-photos-147909.html)

    I am going from this:

My 55 has cycled and has been setup for over 3 months now. It has had fish in it to maintain a bioload. I used water change water from the 20 to setup this tank. I plan on adjusting calcium, alk, mag, salinity, temp etc. to match the current tank before transporting my coral 10 miles down the road.

I am not overly concerned about the move. It will be no worse than taking a coral from the LFS to the house. In this case, it may be even better as the water will be as identical as you can get.

It will be a pain though, as I will be using the same sump and overflow in the new tank. To make matters worse, the sump needs to be cut down 7" before I use it in my new tank.

The logistics are going to be an issue. I will have 55 gallons of water to move, 60 lbs of live rock, coral and the tank/stand etc. Executing each of these in the right order and at the right time will be even trickier.

    My plan is to:

Day 1) On a Thursday, move the stand, tank and partial water to the new place and fill up the 55.

Day 2) On a Friday, Remove sump from 20 gallon to get cut in the MORNING (tank will be filter-less) and set the sump back up in 20 gallon in the afternoon.

Day 3) Saturday morning, adjust all my levels as necessary to match the 20 gallon and observe for a week.

Day 4-8) Pick up new lighting, which will be 2x adjustable (175-250) watt halides and 2x T-5 units (running 250 watt halide now).

Day 9) Saturday morning, remove sump and overflow from the 20 and set it up on the 55 along with the skimmer, phosphate reactor, ATO etc. Test chemistry one last time.

Day 10) Bring the rest of the water over along with coral for drip acclimation and introduction.

My biggest concern is getting the coral over in one piece. A lot of them are attached to the rock, but most should pop off (epoxied plugs that encrusted). Any suggestions here?

This will be an SPS tank.

    specs:
    Jabeo 25
    Koralia 1400
    10 gallon acrylic sump
    Phosban 150
    Reef octopus NWB 150
2x 175-250 watt metal halide (phoenix bulbs)
    2x 55 watt T-5 actinics

    Livestock:
    Pink streaked Wrasse (have)
    perc. clown (have)
    blue damsel (have)
    yellow tail blue damsel (have)
    pink damsel (have)
    perc. clown (will get)
I would like a larger fisher, but it may not be practical.

    Coral:

Just realized that this should probably go into the Show off your fish tank! thread.

Any tips on moving the coral, specifically if I can't remove them from the rock work?
