Hey I figured out the quote thing!! lol. Yeah, I worried about overstocking but I really want a few different fish in here. I have two other tanks with 1 fish in a 12g and 2 in a 28g and I've always wanted more fish! But their well-being comes first and that's why I''m seeking advice now :)

Clowns can be troublesome in a reef tank but people do it.lol
Your list looks O.K. but be aware Skunk Clowns can be extremely territorial.Occelaris or Perculas may be better for you. The Gramma and Gobies should be O.K. if added first. The Firefish may be a problem and are prone to jumping.Chromis do not do well when kept singly and your system is too small for a large group IMO.

Glad to hear that.A breath of fresh air..Keeping your stocking level low is a wise move that your fish will thank you for by providing years of enjoyment.Good luck.

    Thank you!!!

I'm back on the clown goby again... Is it because the green one is less social? So maybe a yellow one would be okay..? Don't know why I want one so bad, it just speaks to me! lol.

And I forgot who suggested it but I am in loooovvvee with the Midas Blenny now! Been watching youtube videos of it for hours! So thanks a mil for that suggestion! :sweethear

I still think the Clown Goby would be best for a smaller tank; either the 12 or 28 (best would be 12 IMO).

And you are welcome on the Midas Blenny :) They are definitely one of my favorite fish!

I'm thinking that they are saying no to the goby because they are so small and you won't really get to see it in the 55. You could probably add it to your 12 or your 28 - as Marshall said, probably the 12 would be optimal. They are so tiny that it wouldn't have that big of a footprint in your tank.

I think I need to go check out the midas blenny lol....

IMO replace the chromis with the midas, I agree, the goby would be best for a smaller tank.
Vinny- Skunk clowns are pretty similar to Percs/Occys, they are no Clarkii/Maroon.

It has been shown in scientific journals that the one of the main roles of Clown Gobies is to respond to chemical signals from acropora coral to respond to hitchhikers, bugs etc.

If you have clown gobies and acro's you will understand as the coral gobies are often found in among the branches of the hard coral. Usually, with out the acropora, clown gobies seem to not be able to form that symbiotic relationship and usually perish. In addition, they are not strong swimmers. In big tanks im sure this doesnt help.

Okay, thank you all! I'll look into putting some acro and the clown goby in my 12. My revised stock list for my 55 is:
    - 2 skunk clowns
    - purple firefish
    - midas blenny :)
    - yellow watchman w/pistol shrimp

Sounds great! now, I'm sure there will be debate on this but I think you could add in a couple more fish to that list. Your call though, if you want to keep your stock low, that's not a bad thing. What kind of corals are you thinking about keeping?
